I’m very grateful to you Your Excellency for inviting us to this ceremony during which you are going to sign the law for the registration of voters for the forthcoming elections. You are at the same time inaugurating both the interim independent commission for the preparations of the elections and the joint management body that has been set up by Your Excellency and which includes the members of the interim commission and international experts. This is one of the important landmarks of the Bonn Agreement and I would like to congratulate the members of the commission and their international colleagues who are going to work together during the coming months.
As you know Your Excellency Bonn has asked the United Nations to do the registration and of course it is the commission which will later on supervise the organization of the elections. We are also extremely grateful to the governments of many countries who have contributed to the financing of this very, very important and costly exercise. We will be counting on their continued support to finish the registration and prepare as well as organize the elections. Once again Your Excellency I would like to congratulate the members of the commission and their international partners and wish them success in this very important work which they have already started and I think they are well on the way to accomplishing their mission. Once again thank you very much for inviting us to this ceremony.
