The United Nations Security Council visiting Afghanistan this week has met with President Hamid Karzai and senior Afghan ministers.
The 15 member delegation, which is led by Ambassador Giulio Terzi of Italy, is assessing the country’s progress in peace and rebuilding.
The Ambassadors and representatives have held meetings so far including with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
The Security Council will continue to hold meetings to assess the humanitarian situation, how the international community is working with Afghan institutions and that Afghan needs are being properly answered. The Council is also examining how joint efforts can succeed and that the UN mission in Afghanistan is adequately supported.
