Statement of the Foreign Ministry Dr. Abdullah Abdullah about the Bombing by the International Coalition Forces in Dehrawod District of Uruzgan Province

The foreign ministry of the Islamic Transitional Government of Afghanistan (ITGA) has got, with deep sadness, the news that several villages in Dehrawod district of Uruzgan province were bombed by the Coalition Forces in the morning of 1st June causing both severe civilian casualties and material damages.

After getting the tragic news, the President of the ITGA Mr. Hamid Karzai called in American authorities and the General commander of the Coalition Forces and expressed to them his deep concerns about the tragic incident and asked them for additional clarifications about the incident. He urged the authorities to take all appropriate measures in order to completely prevent such tragic incidents from happening and also that the military operations in the search for terrorists must not cause civilian damages.

The President of the TG ordered an Afghan delegation to travel to the area as soon as possible in order to sympathize with the families of the dead and the wounded and deliver the government emergency aid to the victims of the incident.

The Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan would like to urge the International Coalition Forces stationed in Afghanistan who are engaged in fighting international terrorism and remnants of the Al Qaida terrorist organization to conduct their operations with precision and take all appropriate measures to prevent damages to local people. They should gather and consider all the necessary intelligence before carrying out military operations.
