Tailoring
to make a living
Following a six-month
tailoring apprenticeship this 16-year-old girl and 29 other women
are now ready to create traditional women's wear. The training course,
funded by a non-governmental organization, provided each candidate
a sewing machine to help run their own company - known as Mumtaz.
The sale of the
merchandise helps each earn a US $1.00 daily wage. Once some of
the operating costs are paid, Mumtaz is expected to raise the per
day remuneration to US $3.00.
