An Dutch architecture bureau in
Rotterdam apologized for its design of two high-rise apartment
buildings to be built in the South Korean capital Seoul, which
is considered resembling the Twin Towers in New York, local
media reported on Monday.
The design, which shows two towers connected in the middle
by a structure resembling a cloud, evoked a storm of protest
in American media and on the company's Facebook page.
According to relatives of the 9/11 victims the two buildings
show too much resemblance to the destroyed Twin Towers in
New York.
On its Facebook page, MVRDV apologized for the connotations
The Cloud project evoked regarding 9/11.
"It was not our intention to create an image resembling
the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design
process. We sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings we
have hurt, the design was not meant to provoke this,"
they said
