Additional Themes

UNAMA also supports the National Commissions called for by the Bonn Agreement. The Special Advisors according to their area of expertise have been playing a key role in this effort and in ensuring that the themes they are specialized on permeate and illuminate UNAMA's activities and programs. UNAMA has also been supporting the Afghan Administration and other interested parties in the discussions on the reform of the security sector (including the establishment of a new National Police and new National Army) and on the demobilization and reintegration of former combatants.
