June 2006 Poll:
39% of voters are pessimistic about Afghanistan’s future
An informal online poll, conducted by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan
during the month of June 2006, has found that a majority of respondents are
pessimistic about Afghanistan’s future. Of the 152 people who participated,
39 percent said they were pessimistic. 29 percent expressed uncertainty, and
32 percent were positive.
The UNAMA online poll permits respondents one vote per computer. It is an informal poll only and is open to participation by any visitor to the UNAMA website www.unama-afg.org. For June 2006, and based on data showing geographic location of servers, we estimate that up to 7 percent of respondents may have been UNAMA staff.
A new poll question appears each month on the UNAMA website. For information about and results of the May 2006 online poll click here.
