UNAMA
August 2006 Poll:
52% of voters believe that weak governance is
Afghanistan's biggest current problem
An informal online poll, conducted by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan
during the month of August 2006 has found that a majority of respondents believe
that weak governance is one of the most relevant problems facing Afghanistan.
Of the 180 people who participated, 35 percent felt corruption is a major
problem.
The UNAMA online poll permits respondents one vote per computer. It is an informal poll only and is open to participation by any visitor to the UNAMA website www.unama-afg.org. For August 2006, and based on data showing geographic location of servers, we estimate that up to 6 percent of respondents may have been UNAMA staff.
A new poll question appears each month on the UNAMA website. For information about and results of the July 2006 online poll click here.
