An informal online poll, conducted by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan during the month of January 2008 has found that 41 percent of respondents feel pessimistic about the current year in Afghanistan while 37 percent feel optimistic about it.

The UNAMA online poll permits respondents one vote per computer. It is an informal poll only and is open to participation by any visitor to the UNAMA website www.unama-afg.org. For September 2006, and based on data showing geographic location of servers, we estimate that up to 6 percent of respondents may have been UNAMA staff.

A new poll question appears each month on the UNAMA website.
